Supporting Cast: Exploring Color and Composition
Today's painting, a 5 x 4 inch oil on panel titled "Supporting Cast," was an exploration of various objects with a wide range of colors. My goal was to create a slightly packed scene that would challenge me to navigate multiple color variations while maintaining some level of cohesive control in the composition.
As I worked, there were moments in the out-of-focus areas where I felt more satisfied with the fluidity of my marks and the efficiency in achieving the effects I was aiming for. However, I found myself less pleased with my ability to establish a primary focal point, both in the composition's arrangement and in the technical execution within the time I had.
The good news is that tomorrow is another day, and with it comes another chance to try again. Each painting is a learning experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to refine my approach and continue growing.
