Falling to Pieces: Embracing Depth and Flow
Today's painting, titled "Falling to Pieces," is an alla prima study of two porcelain cups. Measuring 5 x 4 inches, this piece came together in a way that felt incredibly satisfying. From the start, I found myself in a state of flow, completely immersed in the process, and firmly locked in on my intent for the image.
My goal with this painting was to play with depth and explore how much of a line I could leave in the final resolution. The idea was to see if I could maintain a sense of structure while still allowing the piece to feel loose and expressive. As the image began to pull together, I noticed that things were starting to get more visually interesting. The balance between precision and spontaneity felt more natural, and I was excited to see where this approach would take me.
The best part of this journey has been the sheer enjoyment of painting each day. While I’m pleased with the progress I’m making, the real reward has been the fun and fulfillment I’ve found in the daily practice. I’m looking forward to seeing how this exploration continues to evolve.
