Exploring Themes: "Honey Study”

Prima Coup "Honey Study" Timothy W. Jahn

Today's painting, a 5 x 4 inch oil on panel titled "Honey," was an insightful exploration. Working on a toned board, I began with a more resolved drawing, which allowed me to focus on refining the details and concentrate on color relationships more effectively than in my previous efforts.

The focal point in this piece went a bit further. The large bottle of honey served as the primary focal point, while the smaller jar acted as a secondary focal point. This setup provided a dynamic interplay between the two elements, drawing the viewer's eye through the composition.

As I continue to clean up my belongings in preparation for my move, I am discovering many small, interesting items. This process has sparked a theme of consumerism or my relationship to it that is beginning to develop in my work. Sometimes, these themes start as a faint whisper but can grow and evolve through the creative process.

Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey. Your support and engagement mean the world to me.
