Embracing Expression: Putty Knife and Filler Study

"Putty knife and filler study" 8 x 10 oil on panel

Today, I completed an 8 x 10 oil on panel painting featuring a putty knife and a container of filler. This piece was a venture into the alla prima technique, which requires painting wet-on-wet and completing the work in one session.

My focus for this study was to embrace a more expressive style. I allowed myself to be bold with my brush strokes, leaving them deliberate and textured. This approach not only brought a dynamic quality to the painting but also made the process incredibly meditative. Each stroke felt intentional, and I found myself fully immersed in the moment.

I'm excited to share a few close-up images that highlight the brushwork details. It's these nuances that bring a painting to life and convey the energy and emotion behind the art.

Thank you for following along on this artistic journey. Your support and interest mean a great deal to me. Here's to many more explorations and discoveries in the world of painting.
