Exploring Alien Architecture: “Anoda or Soursop Study”
Today's painting, a 5 x 4 inch oil on panel titled "Anoda," was an exciting opportunity to explore a unique and intriguing subject. One of my students brought in this fascinating fruit, and its structure immediately captivated me. The Anoda almost looks like an alien architecture, with its intricate and unusual surface.
In this premier coup painting, I delved into the challenge of investigating and exploring the fruit's surface. My goal was to experiment with how to describe the planes of the fruit using as decisive brushstrokes as possible. This approach allowed me to capture the essence of the Anoda's complex form with clarity and intention.
Sharing some close-up images to highlight the details and brushwork of this study. Each painting in this series is a step forward in my artistic journey, and I'm grateful for your support and engagement along the way.
