Embracing the Process: “Jar of Honey Study”

“Jar of Honey Study” 5 x 4 oil on panel

Today's painting, a 5 x 4 inch oil on panel titled "Jar of Honey," was an engaging exercise in exploring color and maintaining a looser, painterly approach. The color combinations in the jar of honey have always intrigued me, and I keep returning to this subject to further investigate its nuances.

I started today's session with a line drawing done in chalk, aiming to preserve as much of the early block-in as possible. My goal was to keep the initial loose feeling intact throughout the painting process. As I worked, I was pleased with the control I had over my brush strokes and the color mixing on my palette.

While not everything turned out exactly as planned, there were moments when the process felt really natural, and I found myself in a state of flow. It was a good day, and I'm looking forward to my next painting session.

Sharing some images of the process. Each of these studies is a step forward in my artistic journey, and I'm grateful for your continued support.
